Romeo's Euro Café | Our Story
Over 35 years in the business
Romeo Taus opened the doors of Romeo's Euro Café on June 1, 1991, in the Heritage District of Gilbert, Arizona. More than three decades later, the café he built — plate by plate, guest by guest — is still here.
The first kitchen
Romeo didn't open a restaurant so much as a gathering place — where neighbors became regulars and regulars became family. Warm, unhurried, and genuinely glad you were there.
No microwaves. No shortcuts.
Every dish is cooked after the order is placed — no microwaves, no heat lamps, no shortcuts. It takes more time and more care, and it's the reason the food tastes the way it does.
A menu that rewards curiosity
The menu draws from Mediterranean, Greek, and Italian traditions — stretching from Feta Dill Fritters and a Peasant Platter to Seafood Santorini, Tortellini Gianni, and the Greek Cowboy Burger. There is always something you haven't tried yet.
Beyond the plate
A dessert case, a coffee bar, a curated wine selection, and a boutique gift shop make Romeo's something harder to categorize than a simple restaurant. It is a place you linger in — and rarely want to leave.
Romeo's legacy
Romeo Taus passed away on January 8, 2024, surrounded by the people who loved him. His staff, regulars, and everyone who called this dining room home are carrying forward what he built.
